The AirTag tracking tool is considered one of the very useful products in finding lost things, except that sometimes you may want to share it with others for any reason, and here you will need a factory reset because it only connects to one Apple ID. In the following lines, we will walk through the steps on how to perform a factory reset of AirTag before giving it to someone else.
Factory reset via Find My
◉ Make sure the AirTag is in Bluetooth range
◉ Open the Find My app on the iPhone
◉ Select the crown that you want to remove from your device list
◉ Swipe up to display a list of its settings.
◉ Tap on Remove Item
◉ Click on Remove again to confirm your choice
Manual factory reset
You may not be able to return to the default settings because it is not within the Bluetooth range of the iPhone device or whatever the reason, then you need to do a manual factory reset by removing the AirTag battery and let's get to know the steps:
◉ Press the back made of stainless steel
◉ Rotate the cap counterclockwise
◉ This will separate the two pieces from each other
◉ Take the battery out, wait a few seconds, and then put it back in
◉ Press the battery until the tracker beeps
◉ Wait for the AirTag to stop making sound
◉ You will need to repeat the process of pressing the battery until it beeps four times, for a total of five times
◉ Finally, the manual method of removing the battery is a bit tricky and tedious, so we recommend the first method and do a factory reset through the Find My app before trying to give the AirTag tracking tool to anyone else.
