Discover the feature of searching for messages using the date on WhatsApp

Home

It is evident that WhatsApp is determined to implement numerous improvements for users in the coming period, some of which have already begun. For instance, WhatsApp has developed the message search feature in both individual and group chats, the option to hide the location during calls, and finally, the enhancement of the password feature. Follow along with this article, and we will share with you the latest developments and the release date, as well as how you can utilize them.

Enhancement of Message Search

WhatsApp has decided to make searching for messages easier than before by introducing the option to search using the date. The development of the search feature appeared in the latest trial version, and work is still ongoing to improve this feature. With the search feature, you will be able to find specific messages in conversations based on a particular date, providing you with much-needed convenience.

In the recent update, the calendar icon appears in the search bar. Clicking on it will display the calendar, allowing you to select the desired date and rearrange the messages in the search. It's worth noting that the search option is already available in the stable version of WhatsApp for iPhone users, and the company is working to provide it to users of the WhatsApp Web trial version.

How to Use the Message Search Feature for iPhone Users

1- Tap on the profile icon in the conversation you want.

2- Click on the search option.

3- The calendar icon will appear at the bottom right.

4- You can use this search feature for both group and individual chats.

Concealing Location During Calls

Location hiding during calls:

WhatsApp has introduced a new feature to enhance user privacy on both iOS and Android, namely, hiding the location during calls. This is achieved by routing the call through the company's messaging platform servers.

In a statement to the WhatsApp engineering team, it was mentioned that WhatsApp hides users' locations from other participants in the call. This is done by switching from the standard direct peer-to-peer connection between callers to using the company's servers. Additionally, this helps conceal the IP address information, which contains crucial details such as your geographic location and internet service provider.

WhatsApp took the opportunity to clarify that it does not have access to calls made on its platform and cannot record these calls because they are fully encrypted. Furthermore, calls are transmitted through the company's servers, making it challenging to infer user location information.

It's worth mentioning that while this feature remarkably enhances user privacy, it may slightly impact the quality of the call itself and the clarity of the audio. This feature is not the first privacy enhancement from WhatsApp in 2023; it follows the introduction of the Silence Unknown Callers feature in June of last year, automatically screening calls from unknown contacts.

Improving the Passkeys feature on iPhone:

News suggests that WhatsApp is working on enhancing the Passkeys feature for iPhone users. Prominent programmers have noticed source code in the trial version of the WhatsApp application on iPhone, confirming the existence of this feature.

In the same context, the Passkeys feature will allow you to log into the WhatsApp application using the phone's password, Touch ID, or Face ID. Apple has stated that Passkeys provide much greater security than passwords, as they are generated uniquely for each account on the devices, reducing the risk of fraud and data theft. Despite all this, the official release date for this feature in the WhatsApp application for iPhones is still unknown, but WhatsApp has already begun providing it on Android devices a few weeks ago.
