Apple releases 16.3.1 iOS and iPadOS 16.3.1 update

Home

Apple has just launched a minor update, iOS 16.3.1, for its iOS 16 operating system that was first introduced in September. The release of iOS 16.3.1 follows two weeks after the release of iOS 16.3, which introduced Security Keys for Apple ID and support for the new HomePod. The iOS 16.3.1 update can be downloaded on eligible iPhones and iPads by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

According to Apple, the iOS 16.3.1 update includes bug fixes, addressing issues with iCloud and Siri requests for Find My, and further improves Crash Detection. This update provides critical bug fixes and security upgrades for your iPhone, including:

◉ Fixes for unresponsive or incorrectly displayed iCloud settings when certain apps are using iCloud

◉ Fixes for Siri requests for Find My not working

◉ Optimizations for Crash Detection on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models

The iCloud settings fix may address a problem that some users have been experiencing since iOS 16.3, in which they were unable to toggle on automatic iCloud backups on their iPhone or iPad.

The optimizations for Crash Detection are aimed at resolving issues that have been reported at ski resorts and amusement parks. At ski resorts, emergency personnel have received a large number of false reports, which have been draining valuable resources needed for real emergencies. Apple has made several optimizations to the Crash Detection to try and resolve this problem.
