HMD Global has announced the release of its new smartphone, the Nokia C02, which runs on the lightweight version of the Android 12 Go Edition operating system and targets low-income individuals.

The Finnish company's new phone, designed for daily use with improved durability against shocks, comes as a successor to the Nokia C01 Plus, which was launched in late June 2021.

The Nokia C02, which is 10 mm thick and weighs 191 grams, features a 5.45-inch display with low resolution of 854×480 pixels and a 16:9 aspect ratio.

The phone features a quad-core processor with an unspecified type that runs at 1.4 GHz. It also has 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage with the ability to expand up to 256 GB via external microSD memory cards.

The Nokia C02 has two cameras: a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, which comes in a screen frame similar to old phones.

The new HMD Global phone supports Bluetooth 4.2 technology and Wi-Fi b/g/n wireless networks and comes with a port for traditional headphones.

The Nokia C02 has a removable battery with a capacity of 3,000 mAh/hour that can be charged with only 5 watts of power. To make the phone durable, the company made its body out of polycarbonate material, and it supports dust and water resistance according to the IP52 standard.

The company promises to provide two years of quarterly security updates, and there is no information about operating system updates.

The Nokia C02 will be sold in blue and gray. Although the company has not specified its price, it is expected to be affordable for low-income individuals, about 100$.
