All iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max Rumors We Know: 12 Expected Changes

Home

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 15 lineup in September. As usual, there have been numerous rumors surrounding the new features of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, including a USB-C port, A17 Bionic chip, titanium frame, action button, and more. Below, in this article, we present to you 12 new features and changes that are rumored to be coming to the iPhone 15 Pro.

A17 Bionic Chip

The iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to be equipped with Apple's next-generation A17 Bionic chip, manufactured with a 3-nanometer process to enhance performance and efficiency. The standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are expected to feature an optimized A16 Bionic chip.

The A17 Bionic chip is expected to offer a 35% improvement in power efficiency compared to the A16 Bionic chip used in the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max with 5-nanometer technology.

Titanium Frame

Similar to the Apple Watch Ultra, the iPhone 15 Pro models are rumored to have a titanium frame instead of stainless steel. This will make it stronger and lighter than the current stainless-steel frame used in the iPhone 14 Pro series, and it will also be more resistant to scratches and corrosion.

Ultra-Thin Edges

Following the modern Apple Watch models, the iPhone 15 Pro is rumored to feature ultra-thin curved edges around the display. The edges around the screen will be reduced to approximately 1.5 mm compared to the current 2.2 mm. These changes will make the iPhone 15 Pro more elegant, but it may affect the price.

USB-C Port

The iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to feature a USB-C port with at least USB 3.2 or Thunderbolt 3 support, according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. This may result in significantly faster data transfer speeds compared to using the current Lightning cable. Kuo also mentioned that the standard iPhone 15 models will continue to have a USB 2.0 speed Lightning port.

Wi-Fi 6E Technology

Like the latest Mac and iPad Pro devices, the iPhone 15 Pro is rumored to support Wi-Fi 6E technology for faster wireless speeds. Wi-Fi 6E provides faster speeds, lower latency, and less interference, with more available channels, operating in the 6 GHz frequency compared to Wi-Fi 6, which operates in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands only.

Increased RAM

The iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to be equipped with larger random access memory (RAM) of 8 GB, while the standard models are likely to continue with 6 GB like the iPhone 14. The additional RAM can allow applications like Safari to keep more content active in the background, preventing the need for content reloading when reopening the app.

Action Button

It is also rumored that the iPhone 15 Pro models will be equipped with a customizable action button, similar to the Apple Watch Ultra. The button is expected to replace the current silent switch. Users may be able to assign different system functions to the button, such as silent mode, do not disturb, flashlight, low power mode, and more.

Increased Optical Zoom for iPhone 15 Pro Max

The iPhone 15 Pro Max will feature a periscope zoom lens, which could increase the optical zoom from 5x to 6x compared to 3x in the iPhone 14 Pro models. This means the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be capable of capturing more detailed and clear images from a distance without sacrificing image quality or resorting to digital zoom.

Ultra-Wideband Improvements

The iPhone 15 models are likely to feature an enhanced Ultra-Wideband chip, currently referred to as the U1 chip, to improve integration with Apple's Vision Pro headset. This new chip may also provide improved performance or reduced power consumption for location-based functions such as AirDrop and Precision Finding in the Find My app.

LiDAR Scanner improvements

The iPhone 15 Pro models will include a more power-efficient LiDAR scanner provided by Sony, which can enhance the 3D depth scanning for virtual and augmented reality applications, night mode photos, autofocus, and more.

More Repairable Design

Following the footsteps of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, the iPhone 15 Pro is expected to have a more repairable and much easier design, possibly featuring a removable glass back.

eSIM-only in More Countries

Apple first removed the physical SIM card tray from the iPhone 14 models in the United States last year. The iPhone 15 Pro models may launch without a physical SIM card tray in France this year and possibly in other European countries as well, as part of Apple's ongoing plan for future port-less iPhones.

We are more than a month away from the iPhone 15 lineup reveal, and there may be more rumors to come about additional features and technologies, as the hidden secrets may be the greatest.
